Padstow Farm Shop is working on a brand new web site dedicated to the shop.

Since opening in May 2006, the shop has proved to be hugely popular with both local residents and the many holiday visitors to the area, particularly those in self-catering accommodation.

The shop is located at Trethillick Farm, (Directions and a Map to the Farm Shop are here. ) one of four farms worked by the Watson Smyth family for over 60 years on the Prideaux-Brune Estate near Padstow. One of the old farm buildings at Trethillick has been converted and modernised to provide a bright new outlet for a wide variety of produce, much of which is "home grown" on the four farms.

The business, managed by Sarah Hodgson, is committed to providing local, seasonal Cornish produce and all beef and lamb sold in the shop is born and raised on the farm. The salads, herbs and many of the vegetables are grown by Sarah's partner, Matthew Watson Smyth in his own Victorian walled garden in Padstow. For many years Matthew has been supplying local international celebrity Rick Stein's restaurants, Ripley's at St Merryn and most recently Jamie Oliver's new "Fifteen" restaurant at Watergate Bay.

The shop has been extremely successful during its first year – so much so that it has recently been extended and now stocks an even greater variety of products. In addition the shop has now been granted a licence to sell Cornish wines and beers, these include wines from the Camel Valley Estate and beers from St Austell and Sharps Breweries

Butcher Norman Brooks is running the shop's butchery counter. Norman used to own a butchery business in the town and is well known to many of the customers, who are delighted to see him return to the area.

The emphasis is on fresh, local produce - everything sold in the shop is locally sourced. There is a varied selection of cheeses, all made in Cornwall, including Cornish Yarg, Sue's Trelawney, and the award winning Cornish Blue. The Farm Shop also stocks Cornish smoked goods, bread and pasties, local home-made preserves - jams, honeys and chutneys plus a tempting array of cakes and biscuits. There is a fine selection of gifts, including beauty products from the Trevarno Estate at Helston, St Eval Candles and the only tea grown in England from the Tregothnan Estate near Truro.

You will shortly be be able to subscribe to an email newsletter that will keep you informed of when seasonal varieties are available, Special offers and a lot more.
